iPhone 4 Design Inspired by 3 Year Old Sony Ericsson Concept?
Some of you might remember the Sony Ericsson concept phone below, while to others it may seem brand new. One thing is for sure: the folks of Mobilissimo have come up with an interesting theory, regarding the fact that this handset’s design, dating from 3 years back might have been the inspiration for the iPhone 4.

Sony Ericsson Aspen - My own Version

Sony Ericsson Glory is an Android 2.2 PSP Phone, Based on NVIDIA Tegra 3

Everybody’s going nuts with PSP Phone designs these days, but this time we have an interesting approach to the matter. Terrillo Walls created the Sony Ericsson Glory handset, a very slim gaming phone with PSP-like features. Considering the size of the device and how slim it is, this would make a pretty good tablet, don’t you think (if it were bigger)?

New PSP Phone Design Shown On Video

Well “video” is a strong word for a single pic with a song in the background, but we’ll give this design credit for its looks, not the presentation method. Created by Casper-Zeta, the following PSP Phone concept combines the looks of XPERIA X10 with the form factor of PSP Go.

The result is a gaming smartphone with sliding controls, a directional pad, a large touchscren (4 inch maybe?), Google Chrome support, Android on board (2.2/3.0) and all the goodies usually associated with XPERIA devices. Shoulder buttons are also included, as you can see. What do you think? Have PSP Phone designs changed much over the past year?

Phone on Board Minimalistic Fixed Phone Design Brings Us Back to the Pen Era

In spite of the fact that we live in the touchscreen age, when we chat on the fixed phone we tend to jot down notes on pieces of paper… and boy are they hard to find when you need them! The “Phone on Board” concept solves this issue, by including a whiteboard in the mix, used both as a phone dock and a place to write down what you need to remember.

Intel Link Mobile Phone Concept

Intel Link is what they call “a folded iPad” or simply a very hot concept smartphone, created by Mark Law and David Law (who are twins) for Particle Design. The idea is to hook up smartphones, computers and notebooks using a dual screen phone as their link, thus the name of the device.

PSP Phone Revived, Made by Sony Ericsson and Based on Android 3.0

It’s been a year or so since the PSP Phone rumors were extinct, but now they’re back in full force, courtesy of an Engadget piece published recently. Apparently, the famous blog has a trusted source saying that SE will be making an Android 3.0 gaming phone. What you see below is the Engadget mockup of the device.
PSP Phone Revived, Made by Sony Ericsson and Based on Android 3.0 (Gingerbread)
The smartphone is supposed to be incredible: its design will be a hybrid between Samsung Captivate and PSP Go, it’ll use the landscape slider form factor and include gaming controls instead of a QWERTY keyboard. The display will be somewhere between 3.7 and 4.1 inches in diagonal and the handset will even sport a-la-PSP shoulder buttons.

iPhone 4 Steel Case Solves the AntennaGate 2010 Issue

iPhone 4 Steel Case Solves the AntennaGate 2010 Issue
We usually deal with phones on this site, but this iPhone 4 accessory was simply too cool to ignore. We’re talking about the steel case pictured below, designed by Ryan Glasgow for LtdTools. Believe it or not, the product has become real and it’s available on the market for $95 and it solves the iPhone 4 antenna issues.
Its features include a stainless steel body, an elastic band that allows the case to hold cards, delrim fastener housings, a hinged lid and tabs for easy opening. The large camera cutout leaves enough room for the wide angle iPhone 4 flash on the device and the case’s backplate was removed, as you can see in the images, to reduce weight.

Microsoft Menlo Prototype Device Packs 4.1 inch Display, Barometer
After failing to deliver with the Kin, Pink and Courier projects, Microsoft is brainstorming again and it has already starting working on something called “Menlo”. This project involves a high end mobile device, that’s showcased below, in prototype form. The handset comes with 4.1 inch capacitive touch display (800 x 480 pixels) and it runs Microsoft Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2. Its feature list also includes a Bosch BMA150 accelerometer (3 axis) and a barometer (Bosch BMP085 digital pressure sensor). There’s also a nifty software for this platform: Greenfield, used to retrace the user’s footsteps to his car, based on sensors.
Let’s hope everything goes OK with this project…

Sony Ericsson FH Phone Pivots Both Vertically and Horizontally

Looking for an innovative smartphone? Then the concept realm is for you! Design Du Jun created the very interesting Sony Ericsson FH handset, pictured below and sporting a very interesting form factor. The device is able to pivot both horizontally and vertically.

Its sideways rotation gives birth to a larger viewing screen, great for multimedia features and web browsing. Also, the FH is able to split into two units, working like a walkie talkie for two users or for couples. It’s interesting to see the iPhone UI and Safari browser on this device, as well…

ASUS Windows Phone 7 Handset Leaked or Photoshopped?

Engadget’s got the scoop on a fresh leak of a Windows Phone 7 unit with ASUS written all over it. We’re wondering if this device is real or a mere Photoshop job, but you’ll be the judges of that, considering that many phone designers check out our site constantly.
ASUS Windows Phone 7 Handset Leaked or Photoshopped?
We have to say that the WP7 handset looks legit, although the bottom side underneath the screen is not all that convincing. Wondering what the screen’s diagonal is, too… 4.3 inches maybe? A WP7 ASUS phone… leaked before a Samsung and LG one… not very likely, we think.

Rollphone, a Tiny Handset Relying on AA Batteries

Chinese designer Tao Ma has created a very interesting cellphone concept, called Rollphone. This device runs on AA batteries and we have to mention that this is quite a compact phone we’re dealing with. As shown by its name, the handset is “rollable” with the aid of a flexible display.
Rollphone, a Tiny Handset Relying on AA Batteries
Once you roll the phone into its tiny main shell, you’ll slip it into any pocket and carry it around with ease. Apparently this is “the shortest cellphone ever”, but it has the ability to increase screen space from 45mm to 75mm, in order to allow the user to watch videos more clearly.
Am I the only one who thinks that this phone looks just like a camera film roll?

Aicomobile, a Handset Concept for the Visually Impaired

Mobile phones are available in the billions worldwide, so there’s no stopping in getting one in the hands of each and every human being. Created by Russian designer Lord Leon, this cellphone is directed towards visually impaired users.
Aicomobile, a Handset Concept for the Visually Impaired
Aicomobile allows the blind user to make, receive a call and even send an SMS. As you can see, the device resembles a Rubik’s Cube and features Braille fonts and numbers, easy to identify for people who are visually impaired. The earphones will also play a part in the use of the cellphone and you have to know that the unit measures 40×40x40mm and comes with a strap, allowing it to be worn like a necklace...

HTC HD3 Concept Runs Windows Phone 7, Uses HTC Sense 3

Well, look what the tech geek cat dragged in: a fresh HTC concept, the HD3, adorned with HTC Sense 3 on top of Windows Phone 7. This stunning piece of work belongs to XDA Developer member _LeCiel_, also known as Luke Basarab. HTC HD3 comes with built in speakers on the side of the screen, a front facing camera, HDMI out and a micro USB port.

6 hardware buttons are also included and among them there are 3 WP7 buttons. Keep in mind that this design took Luke 15 hours to make and if you’re looking for specs, they’re nowhere to be found, since the creator of the HD3 left them up to the public to decide. The folks of XDA will suggest features and the designer will probably go with them.
