Wish They Were Phones (WTWP) Episode VII

We know that this isn’t a phone design, but it’s equally cool, as the Interactive Pad is a concept device able to control multimedia access and Internet around you. This universal remote-like thingie was created by Marcial Ahsayane and it looks like Stargate material, if you ask me.
Wish They Were Phones (WTWP) Episode VII: Interactive Pad Concept Would Make a Great Google TV Remote
Imagine a tiny joystick of some sort, that can surf Facebook, YouTube, iTunes, your webcam, videogames, TV stations, music collections, downloads, apps, Android Marketplace and the Apple App Store. On top of that, it’ll probably control the brand new Google TV and Apple’s next-gen TV product. I’m betting on Sony to make this, in case it becomes real! more images after the break...

OLPC XO-3 Tablet Prototype Detailed (Video)

The “One Laptop Per Child” (OLPC) initiative is evolving towards an unbreakable device made out of plastic, that’s affordable for any child on the globe. The project’s main man, Nicholas Negroponte claims that this is the 2012 version of the device, while the 2011 one is the one shown in the video below and supposedly coming at CES 2011:
You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video
OLPC XO-3 is a mere prototype/concept right now, but the real deal will cost around $75 and it’ll do everything that the iPad, Kindle and a laptop do. The device sports a 9 inch display, ARM processor and it’ll run Android. Also, this will be a dual mode display tablet, so it’ll work both in direct sunlight and in the dark. Pretty promising…

eRoll Flexible, Rollable E-reader Shows the Future

eBooks and e-readers aren’t dead yet, in spite of the iPad’s success, so there’s room for new products. One of them could be the flexible e-reader concept, shown below and created by Dragan Trencevski. Dubbed the eRoll, this device reminds us of a very sexy PSP concept we’ve seen a while back.
eRoll Flexible, Rollable E reader Shows the Future
eRoll uses a rollable flexible screen and it can be turned from an average e-reader to a baton. Gone are the rigid displays and fragile devices we had to carry around in order to read while commuting.
Let’s just hope that this baton comes with connectivity options and maybe Internet connectivity, else the iPad is still a better alternative. More images after the break...

HP WebOS Tablet Very Likely, We Have Render

As HP’s CEO, Mark Hurd confirmed that we’ll be seeing a WebOS tablet made by his company, we’ve come across the following render of the device, posted on the interwebs. If the author of this design would be kind enough to mention who he is, it will be great, but till then we remind you about the HP-Palm buyout from a few weeks ago.
HP WebOS Tablet Very Likely, We Have Render
Last we heard, HP was cancelling the Slate tablet project, in order to focus on integrating Palm in its business. It would be great to get Palm’s neat platform on a HP tablet, but we hope it’ll happen before the iPad dominates the market.

Sony Ericsson T686i Flip Phone

This is an old-school handset design for two reasons: it uses the T series, that hasn’t been approached in a while and it’s a flip phone, stuff that Sony Ericsson hasn’t been showing much love for recently. Actually, the company hasn’t been producing new designs, sadly.
Here’s the Sony Ericsson T686i concept, created by Esato board member lavender389.

Iron Man 2 Technology Includes LG Transparent Smartphone (Video)

Iron Man 2 has just made its official debut in US theatres this weekend and every tech freak out there must be pleased with the gadgets shown in the movie. Among them there’s a futuristic LG transparent smartphone that gets pictured below, plus a couple of other device that get detailed in the video at the end of the article.
Iron Man 2 Technology Includes LG Transparent Smartphone (Video)
Kudos to the folks who created this great concept and we have to say we really loved the revolutionary interface shown on Tony Stark’s Microsoft Surface-like coffee table. The virtual Lab and the Iron Man suitcase were probably the coolest technologies we’ve seen in a superhero flick in a long time.
Too bad that the movie is not as good as the first one… Here’s a bit of extra UI action and correction added by the graphic designers working on the film, to make the gadgets look real:
